Introduction:

I believe that we can see clearly from this passage the determination of Satan and the Saviour's desire for every individual that has ever lived.

1. Satan's Determination

A. Deceive

(2 Cor 11:14) "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."

(Rev 20:10) "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

B. Devour

(1 Pet 5:8) "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"

C. Damn

2. Sin's Destruction

A. Robs you of life (Mark 5:3)

1. Christ came that we might have life.

B. Sin is uncontrollable

1. No man could bind this man, even with chains.

2. No man could tame this man

Illustration:

We have tried everything today. Drugs, Alcohol, Sex, Music, Doctors, Prescription drugs (Reglin), Counselors, Psychiatry, Prisons and Jails, and still we have people that are uncontrollable.

3. Here is a sign that you are under the Devil's control ... REBELLION

Quote: "Rules don't make you into a rebel ... Rules reveal if you are a rebel."

C. Creates self hate. (Mark 5:5)

1. Always night and day crying and cutting himself.

Illustration:

Think of this young man's parents. No doubt they had tried everything for this young man. But all to no avail.

No doubt many nights this boys mother spent weeping instead of sleeping. But all to no avail.

3. Saviour's Desire

A. The Saviour came

B. The Saviour had compassion

C. The Saviour converted (vs. 8)

D. The Saviour changed (vs. 15)

1. Clothed and in his right mind.

E. The Saviour commissioned (vs. 19)

4. The Saved Directions (vs. 19)

A. GO

1. Home (Family)

2. Friends

B. TELL

C. RESULTS

1. All men did marvel.

Close:

The story of Sam Jones. Drunk and seeing his reflection in the mirror came to realized that he needed to be saved.
