Verse: Matt
25:46
"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal ." (Matthew 25:46) Introduction: We have in this passage several comparisons.
These groups and places are facts not fiction. Heaven is a real place where people will enjoy the wonders, beauties, sights, fellowship of friends and family, but most importantly Jesus Christ. Several years ago Dr. John Rice submitted a manuscript to a publishing company to have it proof read and printed. Upon proofing it they sent it back stating that Heaven was not supposed to be capitalized. He called them and stated, "You capitalize Chicago, or New York don’t you?" They replied well sure you do those are real places. He then responded, "So is Heaven so leave it alone." Just as Heaven is a real place so is the place called Hell. Hell is a real place where real people burn forever. To deny the existence of hell is to deny the existence of heaven. It is this place of torments we will consider this morning. Please pray that God will speak to the hearts of lost individuals that they may be brought under conviction and trust Christ today as well as to the hearts of believers that they may realize the dread of Hell and will commit to share the Gospel to those around them. 1. The Fact Of Hell
"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." (Psalm 9:17)
"And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched : Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched . And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched : Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched . And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire : Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched ." (Mark 9:43-48)
Read the account in Luke 16 2. The Folk Of Hell
"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God ." (John 3:18)
"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;" (Romans 1:28) "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8, KJV) Keep in mind it’s not the character that sends one to Hell but rather the rejection of Christ. 3. Fright of Hell "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom ." (Luke 16:23)
"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels :" (Matthew 25:41) "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal ." (Matthew 25:46)
"But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented ." (Luke 16:25) 4. Fret of Hell "Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house : For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment ." (Luke 16:27-28)
Sadly those in Hell are more concerned over the lost than many Christians today. 5. Folly Of Hell
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me ." (Revelation 3:20, KJV)
Close: Is Heaven a certainty with you today? If not why not? Are you as concerned about the souls of the lost as those in Hell today? If not why not? |
